We realize that you have many choices of where to buy your next set of custom drapes. When we started DrapeStyle about twelve years ago the notion of buying or selling custom curtains online was really just a novelty at best. No one really thought that it was a good idea or a realistic one for that matter. Over a decade later with over 50,000 Customers in ten countries the idea of buying everything, including custom drapes is not only accepted but in most cases now the “norm”.
Sometimes we look back to catalogs and marketing pieces we made ten years ago and it’s fun to just reminisce. Here is one of our first tv commercials we made that we used to run on local television.
We sincerely look forward to the next ten years for sure!
We’re always looking for photos from our Clients and Customer to post on both our Drapery Design Blog – here, as well as our Pinterest Page, Houzz and our Facebook Fan Page. If you have purchsed drapes, curtains, roman shades, blinds or even pillows please forward us some images and we will post them or all of our fans to see!

Not sure of what the significance of 12-12-12 is but I guess we should “celebrate” it? I saw on the morning news that thier is a rush for people to get married today so that their wedding license says “12-12-12″. So, for whatever it may be worth, “Happy 12-12-12″ from all of us at DrapeStyle!
So I was sitting in my local Restoration Hardware in Fashion Island last week. I really do love that store, they have really great stuff. I’m sitting in that new “aero” looking chair with the leather and stainless steel. Might be aluminum with the rivets showing. Really cool Howard Hughes looking chair. I really do love it.
So, I’m sitting there and next to me sitting on the matching couch to the chair is this really nice couple. They are speaking to one of the Sales Associates about buying some drapes for their large windows. Now look, if you are looking for ready-made drapes that are pretty good quality. And, you need them NOW, than by all means go visit your local Restoration Hardware and see what they have.
Now here is where things got a little bit off track. So, this Couple has extra long and extra wide windows that they need drapery for. So they are going to buy eight ready-made drapery panels from Restoration Hardware and have them sewn together. My ears have perked-up a bit. They do the calculations to figure out exactly how much coverage they need and determine the 8 panels will handle it. Sew 4 together for each side. I’m thinking this is pretty creative. They were not crazy about the rod-pocket pleat option or the fact that their local seamstress was going to charge them $300 to sew them all together but they were committed to the idea.
I’m still admiring the leather and aluminum chairs.
The next thing I know they are up at the register checking out. I hear the Sales Associate give them their total. It came to almost $2,000 for their Cotton / Linen Blend Drapes. Youser! Now on top of the $2,000 they are going to pay their seamstress to sew the panels together to make two large panels – keep in mind, these are still rod-pockets! They are spending $2,300 for ready-made drapes.
Of course I bit my tongue. Would not be polite to me to say something while I am sitting in Restoration. After all, I really do love their stuff. But let me get this off my chest. If you are going to buy ready-made drapery panels and sew them together to make larger panels, please call us. Tell us what you need and what your budget is. I will almost guarantee that the difference in price will be negligible and the quality will be much better. I promise. In the long-run you will be much, much happier.
Now, if you are looking for a really cool leather-aluminum chair, I can’t help you their, go to Restoration Hardware for sure.
Sometimes I think that it is worth reminding our Customers that when you order from DrapeStyle all of your drapes, shades and roman blinds are made right here in our Costa Mesa Workroom. I know that for many people that really doesn’t matter but for some, we think it does. Our drapes are made, by hand, by professional seamstresses who have on average 23 years of experience making beautiful custom made drapes.
DrapeStyle products are never made by child labor in Pakistan, India or China. Effective ideas that will help you transform your old home into a modern one
Interior design ideas are very important when deciding on the decoration pattern to undertake while transforming your old house to a new house. This transformation is usually very important especially for people who have old furniture and other house items and see the need for change. There are different ways through which you can be able to upgrade your house while still using the old furniture in the house. This is usually very important in that it makes it quite easy and economical to transform your house. You do not have to replace your old furniture with new ones as this might prove to be quite hard and even uneconomical. In addition to this, you may not be in a position to be able to dispose off the old furniture.
In order to spice up the interior decoration of your house, you should change the decoration pattern that exists in the “old” house. This change is usually very important in that it makes it quite easy for one to be able to note a difference in the house. You should recessed lighting to replace the already existing hanging light fixtures in the house. You should also consider upgrading the paint in your house to a modern paint, one that is very attractive and appealing to the eye. You should carry out an extensive search on the best color combination that matches the furniture and other items in your house.
It is equally advisable to give your house a feel of custom made drapery. This decoration is a high quality decoration that is able to effectively complement the house’s lighting, painting and even furniture among other items. This decoration should mainly be used in the living room and in any other room that you may feel like. The main aim of interior design and decoration ideas while upgrading an old house is so as to bring out a very clear difference, one that clearly stands out for identification. This also helps in giving your house the much needed luxurious touch.
While upgrading your old house, you should ensure that you use the already existing furniture and other items instead of purchasing new ones. However it requires you to be quite resourceful in order to identify the best interior design idea to use in order to achieve an excellent decoration. You can rely on the internet and other resource centers in order to be able to identify the best idea to use. Old furniture is better than new furniture in that the old one has a better sustainability as compared to the new one. As such the old furniture is usually more resistant to damage and breakage.
We really need to communicate this better. At DrapeStyle we make each custom curtain panel, drapery panel and roman blind or roman shade to order. So, if you have 18 foot tall windows, we can make your drapes for them. Have extra wide windows. no problem. We make drapes for virtually every size and shape of window there is, period. We even make custom curtains for stages and auditoriums.

Can DrapeStyle make very long curtains and drapery? Extra wide curtains and drapes? Blackout curtains? The answer, of course, is YES! We really need to do a better job of letting everyone know that DrapeStyle makes each drapes from scratch. We don’t bring them in from India or China, we actually unroll the fabric, cut them and make the drapery the old fashioned way. Making drapes here in the US went our of fashion about five decades ago but we still make them here. Manufacturing in the US – California no less, is certainly not the least expensive way to make drapery but it does allow us to make the very best quality in the business. Luxury and quality custom made drapery is what we have been about for well over a decade.
So, the short answer is, yes – DrapeStyle can make your extra long drapes, extra wide drapery and blackout curtains for your home theater room! If you don’t see exactly what you need on our website just give us a call. Our Team of Designers (Yes – they really are Designers) can help you create the perfect drapery to your exact specifications and measurements. And we can probably make them for less than what you would think. Just give us a call!
So it’s hard enough to select the perfect fabric for your new curtains or drapes but you also need to decide on a pleat too. There are so many too choose from from the traditional French Pleat, also know as the Pinch Pleat and almost a dozen more. Well, let’s first just slow down a relax. And, of course, if you just know what the pleat looks like but don’t know it’s name just call us and we can identify it for you.
You may also take some time to look at some great images on Pinterest or Houzz. DrapeStyle has images posted but we can also make anything you see from one of the thousands of Designers who post thier images on these sites. So, just look around and have fun.
